Thoughts on the marriage trip

When Grandpa and Grandma got married they traveled back to either Grandpa's ranch on Juan Miller or to the WJ's which is rumored to be at that time vacant due to Grandma's family moving to Clifton. I wonder what route they took to get back to the ranch. I'm thinking it was probably up the Frisco river and then up Sardine canyon but I'm not sure. I wonder how long of a ride that was. Any ideas?

Shipping Corral

I have many wonderful memories of shipping cattle, the shipping corral is just one of them.

Earthquake!!

Now here's some news you just might have heard about. Last Tuesday the USGS registered a small 3.0 earthquake on the ranch. I took the coordinates posted on there site and plotted the location of the epicenter. The epicenter was located just down Johnson Creek from the ranch house about were the falls are located. Wow, never heard of an earthquake on the ranch before, I think its amazing. I'm curious if it shook anything loose from the canyon walls, i'm thinking about going up there and checking it out.

I think I remember being told that Uncle Kenny is on the bald faced horse but I could be wrong. Tulley and Jesse may be in this picture as well. Oh and by the way where is this corral at???

Little Boy Milking the Cow

Well I've been told that this is George (my dad) at about 5 or 6 years old milking up in the old cow corral, I don't see a bucket so maybe it was just practice.

Wildbunch Corral

Well that would be my Dad on the horse and Russell on the ground with someone else. Of all the corrals on the ranch this is one that I liked the most. Not so much for branding, cause it always seemed to be full of rocks. But for the big boulders and the cool shade, not to mention the creek. I have to admit I sure miss those days.
